I can help you have a dress that fits perfectly and looks amazing for your special day. Whether it’s size, length, styling or other changes, I can help, fit, alter and advise on how to make sure your wedding dress is perfect from head to toe.
Wedding Dress Train Before
The original train came like this, along with a bag of bits of lace from the client.
Wedding Dress Hem Before
When you start pinning on the lace edging that you’ve cut around to make it look part of the Dress, it all starts to take place!
Bodice Alterations – Before
If you don’t like the sheer lace look on your wedding dress!! You can always have it lined inside to make it less sheer which will stop exposing your bra and skin.
Bodice Alterations – After
Lining out an inner bodice on a wedding dress isn’t the most easiest of jobs when the dress is already made! I make a Pattern to fit the bodice exactly to the size and shape of the existing bodice. This Bride didn’t want the sheer look so I made a lining and sewed it inside.
Customisations – Strapless Dress
Adding bespoke straps to a strapless wedding dress can change the look completely.
These are just some examples of alterations and changes I have made for some of my clients. I never cut corners and always strive to reconstruct dresses in the way they were originally made. This is meticulous work but crucial to the dress structure and final presentation.
Please do contact me to find out how I can help you not only look amazing but feel joy and comfort on your magical day.
When attending a fitting, please remember to bring the shoes and underwear (at least the top part!) that you will be wearing with the dress.
Typical Prices – Wedding Dress Alterations
There is a £30 initial booking fee for all alterations, which is deductible from the final bill but is nonrefundable.
For your guidance, a wedding dress fitting and alteration usually comes to between £150 and £350. More complex changes or adaptations may come to considerably more.
Wedding dress designs, fabrics and complexity vary enormously so these prices are approximate.
Make sure you make an allowance in your budget for alterations!
Although sample, sale and pre-loved dresses can offer great value for money, if you fall in love with one that doesn’t fit you, alterations could cost as much or even more than the dress – outweighing the savings on the dress itself. For example, a dress 2 sizes too big would need extensive alteration needing a budget of around £500-£600 to cover the alterations and additional fittings. Please also bear in mind the additional time needed for extensive alterations.
Urgent alterations requiring a fast turnaround (under 3 weeks) are subject to a surcharge of £35-£65 depending on the work involved. Brides are advised to have their dresses booked in for alteration at least 8-12 weeks in advance.
