Hello! I am Jane Stevens – a highly skilled professional seamstress, with 45 years of experience. Over the years I have worked as a sample machinist making lingerie and have spent many years working for bridal boutiques making bridesmaids and wedding dresses.
I have been a self‐employed seamstress altering wedding dresses for various wedding shops over the years, and 22 years for a well‐known bridal boutique.
Now I’m ready to start a new chapter in my life. It’s my time to sparkle and shine and venture out doing fittings from my home and with a new business name!
How the name came about was in October last year when I sadly lost my mum to ovarian cancer. We were all with her at the end and I can’t thank St Barnabas Hospice enough for their kind and caring help. Mum called me a “spoilt bitch” in the last few weeks of her life. It was just a little joke and we did laugh. I wanted to somehow link her to the name for my business to remember her by.
My sister came up with the name and my brother designed my logo. So as a family we have all been involved, which is lovely.
I have been sewing for as long as I can remember, staying up until the early hours in my teens making my own clothes. I have a great passion for sewing and I pride myself on my work. I will go the extra mile to ensure your dress fits perfectly for the most magical day of your life.
I will be specialising in wedding dress alterations, bridesmaids, prom, vintage dresses, occasion wear and general clothing alterations when I can.
Just before mum died, she kept saying to me that I needed to get my name out there and advertise. I’ve always worked by recommendations but I feel that now the time is right. It’s such a shame she’s not here to see this, but I know that she would be so proud of me. Especially being asked by Vix Paine to model for the huge wedding photoshoot in May at Lancing beach. Also making it in the Swanky magazine. I can’t believe it at my age!!
What a fabulous day I had. It was totally amazing taking part and being pampered for the day! I will treasure that memory forever.
